About Direct Address
Inspired by Josh Sobel’s Howlround article, Direct Address’s mission is to provide new directors in Chicago with an opportunity to connect with established creatives and theatre companies.
Direct Address is a program to create a designated pipeline for directors to get more facetime in front of more established theatre companies, directors, and playwrights. It is focused on creating connections within each group for collaboration in the future.
Compensation is $50 per project produced. Additionally, we will help with any professional development opportunities (updated headshots, website/artistic statement review, etc.).
This position requires the ability to do thoughtful script evaluation, run a rehearsal room, navigate disagreements/conflict should they arise, and lead a producing process. This also includes being a clear communicator, having good time management skills, and feeling comfortable in a leadership position. On average, this role requires a time commitment of 60 hrs a year. We recognize that conflicting schedules and other responsibilities may come up and we will work with the Associate Producer’s schedule and capacity to ensure both our needs and theirs are being met.
