Job Title: Associate Director of Development: Campaign & Grants Administrator
Position Type: Contractor / Seasonal / Part-Time (15–25 hours per week)
Compensation: $25–$35 per hour (based on experience). This is a 1099 Contract position.
Location: Hybrid (Chicago/US Time Zones Preferred)

Pope Coaching & Consulting (PC&C) is a nonprofit fundraising firm dedicated to supporting BIPOC and LGBTQ+-led organizations. Led by Principal Consultant Mike Pope, PC&C partners exclusively with small and mid-sized nonprofits under $15M, providing strategic guidance and hands-on support tailored to each client’s needs.

About the Role:

Pope Coaching & Consulting is seeking a seasonal Associate Director of Development to join our team of fundraising consultants through Fall 2025. This role is ideal for a mission-driven development professional who enjoys writing, collaboration, and supporting multiple nonprofit organizations.

You will work alongside our team to manage fundraising campaigns and grant portfolios for a group of nonprofit clients, many of whom are Black- or minority-led and working in under-resourced communities.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Developing cases for support for client initiatives and fundraising campaigns.
  • Managing a portfolio of active grants on behalf of nonprofit clients.
  • Creating and maintaining a grants calendar across multiple organizations.
  • Writing compelling grant narratives to secure grant funding.
  • Writing annual fund campaign copy, including appeal letters and email sequences.
  • Collaborating with clients and our internal team to craft compelling fundraising language.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced fundraiser with proven success writing annual fund appeals or overseeing grant portfolios.
  • A strategic thinker who sees writing as a tool for education, storytelling, and equity
  • Comfortable writing for both grassroots nonprofits and large institutional stakeholders
  • Have prior experience communicating complex, technical writing into compelling stories and campaigns.
  • Understands how nonprofits communicate, fundraise, and advocate – and what tools they need to do it better.
  • A storyteller at heart – able to bring structure and spark to content that drives action.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience leading fundraising campaigns or managing a nonprofit grant portfolio.
  • Passion for working with small and mid-sized nonprofits.
  • Experience writing compelling nonprofit fundraising appeals and cases for support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with American nonprofit culture, especially among BIPOC or minority-led organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Bonus: Experience managing grant portfolios for multiple clients or organizations.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., non-profit management, communications, marketing, English).
  • A comparable combination of education, experience, or training commensurate to execute the duties and fulfill the goals of this role.
