Producing works that center on the queer experience
PrideArts is thrilled to present the queer version of Constellations by Nick Payne, directed by Jay Españo.
A physicist meets a beekeeper at a party. They hit it off … or perhaps they don’t. One of them is married … or maybe they’re both single. Constellations takes this chance encounter between two lost souls and opens the door to the infinite possibilities of their relationship through the lens of quantum mechanics. Its compelling structure presents short, repeating scenes with subtle variations, allowing the audience to witness how the tiniest change in the details of our lives can lead to vastly altered outcomes, prompting reflection on the myriad possibilities of life. Beyond its intellectual curiosity, the play is a profoundly human story of love, intimacy, heartbreak, and resilience with pure honesty and tender humor that challenges us to consider the value of human connection within an infinite multiverse.
The world of this play is set somewhere in England so be familiar with various British dialects.
Rehearsals start January 5, 2026. Previews are February 6 and February 8. Opening is February 9, with closing on March 1. All rehearsals and performances will be in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre at Center on Halsted.
