Production Manager

PrideArts is looking for a Production Manager for their upcoming production of A New Brain by William Finn and James Lapine. Jay Espano, PrideArts Artistic Director, will direct with Robert Ollis serving as Music Director.

By the Tony Award-winning authors of Falsettos, A New Brain is an energetic, sardonic, often comical musical about a composer during a medical emergency. Gordon collapses into his lunch and awakes in the hospital, surrounded by his maritime-enthusiast lover, his mother, a co-worker, the doctor, and the nurses. Reluctantly, he had been composing a song for a children’s television show that features a frog — Mr. Bungee — and the specter of this large green character and the unfinished work haunts him throughout his medical ordeal. What was thought to be a tumor turns out to be something more operable, and Gordon recovers, grateful for a chance to compose the songs he yearns to produce.

Rehearsals begin June 30. Tech rehearsals begin approximately August 6. The show opens on August 25 and closes on September 14. All rehearsals and performances will be in The Hoover-Leppen Theatre at Center on Halsted.

• Lead production meetings.  Record and distribute notes from these meetings.
• Enforce design deadlines throughout the process.
• Aid in managing the production budget based on the budget created by the Managing Director.
• Manage the Production Staff.
• Supervise load-in, build, and strike of the production as necessary. Be available as necessary to address notes arising from dress rehearsals and preview performances and delegate to appropriate crew where possible.
• Consult as needed with the Director, Designers, and/or Production Staff regarding the show.
