PrideArts is looking for an experienced Technical Director for our 2026 summer production of windows by Matt Schutz, directed by Taylor Pasche.
Olivia is a former soccer player still recovering from a career-ending injury. Her girlfriend, Natalie, is stuck in a job she’s not passionate about, caught between finding her own happiness and caring for Olivia’s. Meanwhile, Natalie’s roommate Clay is trying to take the next step in his life – towards a new promotion, away from a past relationship, and into his own power. As all three maneuver through the ever-present reality of Olivia’s injury, they find escape however they can.
Position Overview:
PrideArts is seeking an experienced Technical Director (TD) for the upcoming production of windows by Matt Schutz. The TD will oversee all technical aspects of the production, including installation, load-in, and strike, working closely with the Production Manager and design team to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role will focus on supervising the installation and execution of the set rather than leading the full build process, as scenic construction will be completed by an external vendor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage set installation in coordination with Andersonville Scenic
- Supervise load-in and strike, ensuring the space is returned to its original condition
- Collaborate with the Production Manager, director, and design teams
- Coordinate logistics, including labor, materials, and scheduling
- Work within established production budgets and timelines
- Ensure adherence to safe and respectful working practices in alignment with Chicago Theatre Standards (Not In Our House)
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges throughout the production process
Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: Prior experience as a Technical Director for theatrical productions
- Strong knowledge of scenic construction, tools, and materials
- Experience managing teams and overseeing installation processes
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Schedule & Time Commitment:
- Set installation – one full-day installation prior to tech (daytime access beginning as early as 10:00 AM; exact date TBD)
- Load-in and strike attendance required
