Overview

The Prop Thtr’s world premiere production of I Am Going to Die Alone and I Am Not Afraid (AIANA) conceived and directed by Anna Gelman, is seeking a Lighting Designer! AIANA (more info below) is a devised play about women in the Holocaust told through ensemble performance, live music, and dance, so experience with and excitement for devised theatre, new work, and multidisciplinary theatre is encouraged.

The piece will be built collaboratively during the process, so we are looking for other artists with strong communication skills and a clear eye toward creative problem solving. While the show will deal directly with the Holocaust and the stories of Jewish women past and present, you do not need to be Jewish to work on the project. All perspectives and identities are welcomed and encouraged in the room, as we believe that the fight against fascism and white supremacy is universal, and that Never Again means Never Again for Anyone.

Please view the show’s description and dates below and email Zach Weinberg, the show’s producer, at zacharyweinberg@gmail.com with a resume if you are interested. Feel free also to reach out to him with any questions or concerns you may have.

I Am Going to Die Alone and I Am Not Afraid

A furious history of the Holocaust

How do you fight for the future you won’t live to see? Told through both imagined and historical stories of rebels like Francesca Mann, who shot a Nazi Officer while being taken to the gas chambers, I Am Going to Die Alone and I Am Not Afraid is a devised play about resilience and tenacity in the face of violence. Exploring ancestral trauma and remembrance as rebellion, …and I Am Not Afraid uses stories of exceptional bravery to expand the legacy of the Holocaust and examine oppression today. What lessons do we take from history, and how can we make sure Never Again means Never Again, for anyone?
