POSITION SUMMARY

Randolph Entertainment is seeking a part-time Audio Sub for their fall production of Teatro ZinZanni, currently running. The Audio Sub operates the sound system on a part-time basis when the Audio Director cannot. This person is responsible for the care and maintenance of the sound and band equipment as needed, when repairs are necessary for the operation of the show they are running. The Audio Sub will be trained by our Audio Director to be able to successfully mix the show independently.

The core duty is to ensure high quality aural experience for audience, production staff, 5 piece live band, and performers nightly for Teatro ZinZanni’s 2.5 hour live dining experience. Must be able to operate a fast-moving show with lots of cues comfortably while supporting the sound system including our PA and headset systems. This position is responsible for all sound equipment and band equipment, making sure it is kept in top shape.

SHOW SUMMARY

Teatro ZinZanni presents a fully integrated evening of entertainment which includes cirque artists, European cabaret, contortionists, jugglers and illusionists with live music and a fabulous multi-course meal.

The smooth operation of Teatro ZinZanni is based on teamwork and the shared responsibility of production and service staff. Our success is determined by the excellent integration of the quality of the show and the food and beverage operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform high standard operation on a part-time basis and support Trainings/Rehearsals as they arise.
  • Keep gear in working order to ensure that all equipment is working at the highest level.
  • Continually review and listen for sound quality throughout the tent, adjusting speakers and equipment as needed.
  • Able to work with sound designers.
  • Perform all manipulation of sound equipment inside venue including sound checks, maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Responsible for quality control, regular maintenance, and necessary repair of sound equipment.
  • Record and archive all performances.
  • Follow and complete audio paperwork, including but not limited to: cue sheets, inventory, pre and post checklists.
  • Prepare microphones and sound system for show and rehearsals as needed.
  • Responsible for all venue on site sound/audio needs, such as multi-floor backstage monitor sends, lobby sound/entertainment/support, multi-floor COM.
  • Responsible to coordinate and successfully execute audio and sound design for Teatro ZinZanni events and productions.
  • Archive audio files on server as directed

General Sound Operations

  • Attend production meetings if requested.
  • Responsible for lobby sound system and maintenance.
  • Interact with the band on a nightly basis.
  • Promote positive team atmosphere onsite.
  • Stay current with new and developing trends in the Sound Industry.
  • Responsible to maintain all company owned backline, whether it is in house repair or arranging a repair with vendors.
  • Shut down and secure the sound system upon nightly departure.
  • Keep the sound booth and band stand clean and organized.
  • Maintain sound storage areas

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Essential minimum skills, education, and experience:

  • 3 years professional live sound experience.
  • Experience mixing complicated live shows.
  • Experience with a variety of entertainment genres including, but not limited to circus, jazz, R&B, rock, opera, musical theatre, comedy, and vaudevillian type events.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communicator, comfortable with working with the band and PSM on any problems that arise.
  • Patient and calm presence and communication.
  • Experience using lavalier microphones for a group of at least 12.
  • Works well collaborating with people.
  • Ability to lead others.
  • Excellent ear for detail.
  • Knowledge of technical production.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate problems.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • Familiar with Yamaha CL5 board operations, Dante I/O protocols, Aviom monitoring systems, Clear-Com systems, Shure wireless equipment and Wireless Workbench frequency coordination, QLab, DPA d:fine microphones.
  • Assist in the pushing, pulling, lifting, or moving of objects up to 50 lbs.

NOTES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

May be requested to work at additional on site and off site events.  Required to provide and wear appropriate clothing for all working calls as determined by management. We require all employees are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

WORKING SCHEDULE/ENVIRONMENT

Position deals directly with the cast, band, restaurant, and staff.  Primary schedule is Wednesday through Sunday. Monday and Tuesday are generally days off. Workdays are: Wed – Sun.

Employee should arrive 15 minutes prior to any scheduled meeting or rehearsal. Audio Sub will be regularly scheduled for 1-2 performances per week, and may be occasionally requested to cover additional performances dependent upon Audio Director’s availability.
