POSITION SUMMARY

The Lighting Sub operates the lighting system for the Teatro Zinzanni show on a substitute basis when the Lighting Manager is unavailable. This person is responsible for the care and maintenance of the lighting equipment and does repairs as necessary. Position begins in Sept. 2024.

SHOW SUMMARY

Teatro ZinZanni presents a fully integrated evening of entertainment which includes cirque artists, European cabaret, contortionists, jugglers and illusionists with live music and a fabulous multi-course meal, performed in our breathtaking venue located on the 14thfloor of the hotel promising an opulent, world-class extravaganza.

The smooth operation of Teatro ZinZanni is based on teamwork and the shared responsibility of sales, production, and service staff. Our success is determined by the integration of excellent customer service from ticketing to night of show, quality of the show and seamless food and beverage operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

The Position’s primary function is to operate the LX console and hydraulic lift control for performances, rehearsals, and trainings as scheduled. This function will include the following responsibilities:

  • Operates the lighting console for specific shows
  • Makes adjustments to cue lists and programming, as necessitated by the show
  • Program and operate intelligent/conventional lighting console for the show
  • Responsible for quality control, some maintenance and repair of lighting equipment
  • Maintains the integrity of the lighting design while the Lighting Manager is out
  • Maintains notes system for the Lighting Manager, ensuring they receive any/all notes about any changes
  • Ensures that company safety guidelines are followed and implemented on-site
  • Keeps the lighting booth clean and organized
  • Promotes positive team atmosphere onsite
  • Attends rehearsal as requested by the PSM or Lighting Designer
  • Run lift control during performances, and rehearsals as needed

  • Able to be present and on time for meetings, rehearsals, and show calls.
  • Able to provide timely completion of duties: meet deadlines.
  • Knows when to issue request for assistance when appropriate.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all types of staff utilizing voicemail, email, computers, fax machines, copiers, and proper use of memos and other office communications.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be able to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Respectful of the rights and boundaries of others.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

Essential minimum skills, education, and experience: 

  • 3 years professional stage lighting experience
  • Ability to operate and program the ETC Ion console
  • Proficient in ETC Ion lighting software, moving lights, conventional lights, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of theatrical dimming systems and electrical system basics
  • Works well collaborating with people
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Knowledge of technical production
  • Ability to articulate and communicate technical problems
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Able to lift 60 lbs
  • Able to stand for extended periods

NOTES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

May be requested to work at additional on-site and off-site events.  Required to provide and wear appropriate clothing for all working calls as determined by management. We require all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

  • Fast-paced, complex theatrical environment incorporating a 285-seat fine dining restaurant.
  • This position requires good organizational skills, ability to work in low light, and the ability to respond to changing demands as needed.
  • Position interacts directly with cast, band, and restaurant staff
  • The atmosphere includes loud noise, bright lighting and strobe effects.

Position deals directly with the cast, band, restaurant, and staff. Primary schedule is Wednesday through Sunday. Monday and Tuesday are generally days off. Workdays are: Wed – Sun. Employee should arrive 15 minutes prior to any scheduled meeting or rehearsal. Lighting Sub will be regularly scheduled for 1-2 performances per week, and may be occasionally requested to cover additional performances dependent upon Lighting Supervisor’s availability.
