Position: Raue Center School For The Arts Devised Holiday Show – Light Designer

Hours: Varies based on availability

Designer Stipend: $500

Raue Center School For The Arts (RCSA) is thrilled to reveal its 2nd Annual Devised Holiday

Production following the major success of last year’s The Disturbing Disappearance of St. Nicholas. RCSA is looking for a for a skilled, self- motivated lighting designer to join our team for the production. Potential lighting designer should be a self-starter and an excellent collaborator with the creative team members.

Light Designer Responsibilities:

• Understanding the script will be developed and created by the cast throughout the process.

• Researching any concepts, ideas, and more to create conceptual looks based on collaboration with the director.

• Meet with scenic designer, costume designer, and director to discuss color. Meet with the scenic designer to discuss all masking, flying, shifting scenery, and any wired practicals.

• Complete a cue synopsis that details all lighting shifts and changes.

• Develop preliminary concept statement and begin rough cue synopsis.

• Meet with the Production Director, Production Manager(s), Technical Director to coordinate hang, focus, dark time, etc.

• Providing any potential cost for specialty lighting items and time estimates to obtain (ifapplicable).

• Attend a designer run to see the overall flow of the show.

• Build cues, presets, set levels, special lighting, and effects.

• Arrange a meeting with the Director, Stage Manager, and the other production team members for a “Paper Tech”, as to go through the show cue by cue prior to the first tech rehearsal. This will also be coordinator with our Production Manager(s).

• Attend all tech and dress rehearsals and evaluate, plan, and rework all light cues as necessary. Continue polishing and improving cues and light plot until the final rehearsal.

• All designers will need to participate in a brief strike, immediately following the final performance

(Sunday, December 8th)

Important Devised Holiday Production dates:

• First in-person rehearsal will begin the week of November 1, 2024

• Rehearsals: November 1 – November 29. 2024

• Tech: December 1 – December 4, 2024

• Performances: December 5 – 8, 2024
