Raven Theatre operates out of its fully owned 10,000 square foot building which includes our 85 seat Johnson Stage, the 57 seat Schwartz Stage, and administrative offices.

Position 
Raven is hiring a part-time Front of House Associate for the remainder of our 23/24 season. Front of House Associates share responsibilities for box officer, house manager, and concessioner duties, collaborating to ensure the comfort and safety of up to 150 patrons during performances. The Front of House Associates are on-site during performances to support a positive patron experience by welcoming patrons into our space, processing ticket reservations and concession purchases, coordinating will-call pickup, responding to patron questions and concerns, training Saints volunteers, and directing foot traffic to encourage consistent performance run times.

Qualifications 
The Front of House Associate should possess the following qualifications (reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions):

Required:

  • An enthusiasm for hospitality and creating a positively memorable patron experience
  • Empathetic, patient, and calm approach to potentially stressful situations
  • Collaborative, flexible, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Eager to share perspectives, as well as receive coaching and feedback
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable with cleaning duties
  • Able to traverse swiftly for up to 2 hours at a time, lift and carry up to 25lbs, and stoop
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at a time
  • Able to operate walkie talkie with headset, iPads, keyboards, and computers
  • Able to read and interpret emotional cues (emotional intelligence)

Preferred:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a customer/patron-facing role
  • A familiarity and understanding of live theatre operations
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language is a strong asset
  • Basset Certification (will be provided if not current)

Hours

  • Part-time position, up to 15 hrs/week during performances (additional hours may be available)
  • In general, during weeks with performances: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 5:30pm to 10:00pm; Sundays 1:00pm to 5:30pm

Responsibilities
For each performance, 2-3 Front of House Associates will be on-site reporting to the Lead Front of House Manager. 1 Associate will cover box office duties, 1 Associate will cover house management duties, and 1 Associate will cover concession duties. In general, Front of House Associates are cross-trained in all areas.

House Management:

  • Arrive 2 hours before curtain to clean/prepare house and restrooms for patrons
  • Train and host between 2 and 4 rotating Saints volunteers nightly
    Welcome patrons into the building and help direct them to seating, restrooms, etc.
  • Ensure that patron traffic flows smoothly to enable performances to start and end on time
  • Relay any ticketing issues to Box Office Manager
  • Direct escalated issues to the Lead Front of House Manager

Conduct a full clean of patron areas after each performance

Box Office:

  • Arrive 2 hours before curtain to clean/prepare lobby for patrons
  • Navigate AudienceView ticketing software
  • Process reservations both in-person and over the phone
  • Maintain organized marketing materials such as programs and brochures
  • Complete will-call pickups during events
  • Resolve ticketing and/or seating issues
  • Direct escalated issues to the Lead Front of House Manager
  • Wrap up box office operations after intermission

Concessions:

  • Arrive 2 hours before curtain to clean/prepare concessions area
  • Monitor inventory of concession items
  • Sell concessions and alcoholic beverages via Square
  • Pull post-show sales report (revenue and inventory sold)
  • Restock items and conduct a full clean of concessions area after intermission

Availability
Raven Theatre produces 3 plays per season and hosts multiple rental and resident company shows throughout the year. Front of House Associates must be available for at least three events per week (during show weeks) for the full season. Shifts are assigned based on tenure with Raven, availability, and proficiency. Please note that Raven may not be able to honor time-off requests lasting longer than 2 full weeks.

Compensation
The Front of House Associate is a part-time W2 position, earning $17/hr on site, plus tips.
