Red Theater is seeking a Sound Designer for our February 2026 production of The Seagull, directed by Ian Maryfield

We are seeking a sound designer to collaborate with the director and design team in creating and implementing a design to support the shared vision of the production. The sound designer will be responsible for creating sound cues and installation of any additional equipment they deem necessary to complete their design. They will be working in collaboration with a composer providing original music for the production. Sound designer will be responsible for creating the sound cues for the show in a QLab file, making adjustments throughout the tech rehearsal and preview process, and participating in strike if any adjustments are made to the default configuration of the sound equipment in the theater space in implementation of their design.

Production Dates/Locations:

  • Production Meetings: Starting ASAP, based on availability
  • First Rehearsal: Monday December 29th
  • Designer Run: Saturday January 24th
  • Load-in: Monday February 2nd
  • Tech rehearsals: Thurs 2/5, Fri 2/6 @ 6P – 11P
  • 8-of-10s: Sat 2/7, Sun 2/8
  • Final dress: Tues 12/10 @ 6P – 11P
  • Previews: Wed 2/11, Thurs 2/12, Fri 2/13 @ 7:30P
  • Opening: Saturday February 14th @ 7:30P
  • Strike: Sunday March 15th
  • Rehearsal venue: The Hearth, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave
  • Performance venue: The Edge Off Broadway, 1133 W. Catalpa Ave
