World Travelers Camp located at Devonshire Cultural Center has an opening for a Music Specialist. Discover new cultures by traveling around the world with us! Each week we will “visit” new countries and experience their music, art and dance. This year we are traveling to Egypt, The Philippines, Sweden, Nepal, Argentina, Greece, Ethiopia and the Polynesian Islands. Cultural activities also include field trips and guest performances. Expect swimming a minimum of three times per week.

Qualifications:  Must be a mature, responsible adult at least 18 years of age that enjoys working with children ages 6-8. Prior experience teaching instrumental music and/or vocal music along with summer camp work experience preferred. Must be knowledgeable about music and able to teach multicultural songs to the campers. Must also be comfortable leading campers in other games and activities. Prefer a music major or an individual with music training.

Duties:  Works cooperatively with staff in the planning and implementation of age appropriate activities that are themed around different cultures and countries across the World. Responsible for planning and teaching/leading all musical camp activites.Works cooperatively with camp staff in leading campers in other camp activities that may include music, drama, play, games, stories, arts and crafts and other themed camp activities. Responsible for the supervision of the campers assigned to their group. Supervises campers on field trips and while swimming. Maintains accurate records and reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Must be available to attend training sessions to be held the week prior to the start of camp, the all camp training on Saturday, June 13th and other training to be announced. Must be able to make the commitment to work both camp sessions beginning Monday, June 15, 2020 and ending Friday, August 7, 2020.
