World Travelers Camp located at Devonshire Cultural Center has an opening for a dance specialist. Every week campers aged 6 to 8 years old will “visit” a new country and experience the colors, crafts, and sounds of faraway lands right here in Skokie! Activities reflecting various world cultures include arts and crafts, music, dance, stories, indoor and outdoor activities and games. Campers attend field trips and swimming activities. There are perks for joining our team! Our summer staff receives a free membership to our health club, Fitness First, free golf and free use of our pools during their seasonal employment!
Qualifications: Must be a mature, responsible adult at least 18 years of age that enjoys working with school-aged children. Prior experience teaching dance and/or summer camp work experience preferred. Must be energetic, creative and enjoy working with children aged 6-8. Must be knowledgeable about dance and able to teach dance to the campers. Prefer a dance major or an individual with dance training. Choreography and/or theater training is a plus.
Duties: Works cooperatively with staff in the planning and implementation of age appropriate activities that are themed around different cultures and countries across the World. Responsible for planning, choreography and teaching/leading dance camp activites.Works cooperatively with camp staff in leading campers in other camp activities that may include music, drama, play, games, stories, arts and crafts and other themed camp activities. Responsible for the supervision of the campers assigned to their group. Supervises campers on field trips and while swimming. Maintains accurate records and reports. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Must be available to attend training sessions to be held prior to the start of camp, the all camp training on Saturday, June 8th and other training to be announced. Must be able to make the commitment to work both camp sessions beginning Monday, June 10, 2019 and ending Friday, August 2, 2019.
