Reports to: Director of Audience Services

The Den Theatre is looking for an Event Manager to oversee nightly operations of the box office and house management teams. This position is part-time, and it does require weekend and evening shifts. Please do not apply if you are unable to work evenings. Most shifts take place Thursday-Saturday evenings, as well as Sunday afternoons. We are looking for someone with an interest in event management, capable of managing all aspects of event management, including but not limited to: staff scheduling, bookkeeping, accounting, ticket payout reports, social media involvement, house managing, ticketing, and website upkeep. Interest and/or experience with theatre is a plus, though not required.

Job Duties:

-Supervise the Front of House staff during night-of operations, house managing and working box office as needed.

-Handle online event ticketing setup and customer service for all performances (plays, live music, burlesque, stand-up comedy, etc.).

-Maintain the website calendar.

-Provide consistency to box office and front of house staff on a nightly basis through improvement of nightly processes and development of staff manual.

-Improve efficiency regarding producer use of ticketing software system.

-Work with the Social Media Manager to capture nightly goings-on #downattheden.

-Assist in the hiring & training of new staff, as needed.

-Present updates of issues/successes at staff meetings Tuesdays 2-4pm.

-Close down the building, as needed.

About The Den Theatre:

Owner Ryan Martin opened The Den in 2010 with a single theatre space. Seven years later, The Den boasts five intimate and unique theaters on two floors ranging from 50 – 275 seats. The Den is also equipped with two bars enveloped by a never-ending field of lounge space for audiences and like-minded culture hounds to drink, talk, read, watch, think, listen and live. The Den is home to five resident theatre companies including First Floor Theater, Haven Theatre Company, The New Colony, Broken Nose Theatre, and Firebrand Theatre. Hundreds of other companies from Chicago and beyond have also called The Den home, utilizing its theaters, studio space and easily convertible cabaret space to accommodate a stream of programming, including plays, musicals, film screenings, stand-up comedy, live music, dance, improv, seminars and speaking engagements.
