About Theatre EVOLVE:
Founded in 2017, Theatre EVOLVE is a 501(c)(3) committed to dismantling gatekeeping in the theatre industry by intentionally centering new artists. We allocate 50% of every production to artists who are new to the field, the city, or their craft.
EVOLVE works to empower artists within the Chicago theatre community while actively addressing barriers that have historically excluded BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled artists.
Theatre EVOLVE has adopted the Chicago Theatre Standards (notinourhouse.org)
The Job:
Theatre EVOLVE is searching for a costume designer for our upcoming production of Native Gardens, By Karen Zacarias directed by Moises Diaz. Script available upon request.
Because Native Gardens centers the Latine experience in America, we are especially interested in collaborating with designers whose cultural background or lived experience aligns with the world of the play, in support of authentic and thoughtful storytelling.
When:
First Production Meeting: February 28th
Second Production Meeting: March 28th
First Rehearsal and Designer Presentations: May 15th
Final Production Meeting: Jun 6th
Paper Tech: June 21st
Tech Load In: June 22nd
Tech: June 22nd-25th
Opening: June 26th
Closing: July 18th
Strike: July 19th
Rehearsals will be held in the evenings and on weekends.
Where: Rehearsals will be on the north side – location TBD and Performance at The Den Theatre.
What: Native Gardens (4 Person Cast) by Karen Zacharias, directed by Moises Diaz
Stipend: $450.00
