Theatre L’Acadie is seeking an Assistant Director for the upcoming Chicago premiere of Rising Water by John Biguenet, directed by co-artistic director Erin Sheets.
L’Acadie is highly encouraging BIPOC, LGBTQA+, non-binary, and directors of all abilities to apply. PLAY SYNOPSIS:
A New Orleans couple awakens in the middle of the night to find their house filling with water. Seeking refuge in their attic, they grapple with the rising water and the life they have lived together. Caught between an attic of memories and a rooftop that reveals a sea of sunken houses and wailing sirens, the man and woman wait for rescue. (Rising Water was nominated for a 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, commissioned by the National New Play Network)
PERFORMANCE & REHEARSAL LOCATION:
Rising Water will be rehearsed & performed at Facility Theatre,
1138 N California Ave, Chicago, IL 60622 (Humboldt Park)
PAY RANGE:
The Assistant Director will receive a $200 stipend. The Assistant Director will be responsible for preparing the Understudy cast, who will have at least one guaranteed performance. Theatre L’Acadie will also offer a complimentary headshot session with our company photographer as a Thank You for your work! Theatre L’Acadie believes in pay transparency and pays all artists equitably based on a tiered system. All Theatre L’Acadie performances are Pay-What-You-Can.

TIME COMMITMENT:
Rehearsals will take place on select weekday evenings and weekend mornings. The Assistant Director will be responsible for scheduling and leading Understudy Rehearsals, as well as coordinating with the Director to assist principal cast rehearsals (at least 2x per week).

January 17th – January 26th
Performances (LOCATION: Facility Theatre) :
January 28th – February 22nd
