We are looking to hire a sound designer for our latest production.
Theatre Y is mounting a new production of Juliet by Andras Visky, adapted and directed by Kevin V. Smith. Juliet is a riveting work, a monologue spoken by the title character as a Job-like cry from the heart at the end of her endurance in a labor camp with her seven young children. The play is based on the experience of the author’s family under the Communist regime in Romania during the early 1960s. This production will be weaving in a chorus of mothers and their babies to dramatize the play’s poignant commentary on motherhood and the existence of eternal love in an oppressive society.
The ideal candidate would have advanced knowledge of sound editing and the ability to compose for and record cello/violin/viola.
Pre-production conceptual work would begin ASAP. Attendance at weekly production meetings once rehearsals begin would be expected. Attendance during builds/load-ins/hangs and tech would be required.
1st Rehearsal: Tuesday, November 19th
Tech: Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday January 5th, 7th and 9th
Previews: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, January 10th, 11th, 12th and 15th
