Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre seeks a Director of Production to begin training in October and take over the role mid-November. This is a part time, partly remote position with a stipend of $1,000 monthly.
Job Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Create, manage and enforce production calendar & deadlines
- Coordinate all communications between designers, artistic staff, stage management team, production staff, venue staff and producer in regard to design elements and technical logistics integral to the production.
- Handle contracting for designers and production staff.
- Assist department heads in hiring and/or oversee the hiring of overhire labor needed to execute the creation, build, install and strike in collaboration with the producer as necessary for successful execution of the production.
- Schedule, attend and conduct all production meetings with the director, stage manager and design team and as many “break out” meetings with the director and/or designers as required to ensure clear communication and actionable design direction.
- Support, communicate, track and manage the production schedule and budgets of the production with all team members in coordination with the Producer.
- Be present for the entirety of all designer run-throughs, technical rehearsals and preview performances of the production and conduct production meetings in-person following each.
- Reconcile all budgets and expenditures between designers, technicians and producer within ten days of closing.
- Working with the Director, Production Team and Actors throughout the rehearsal process to help create a welcoming and productive atmosphere for the team.
Technical Supervision:
- Manage and update equipment inventory, including tools, lighting & sound, costumes, & paint at the conclusion of each show
- Manage all technical needs for space rentals and be on-site contact for rentals including being present at start of rental.
- Run sound and light board for off night events as needed.
- Be present at Theo fundraising events and help organize and run technical elements.
- Implement and maintain organizational systems for Theo’s storage areas (basement, tool closet)
- Become the resident expert on the technical capabilities and requirements of the space
- Weekly one on one meetings with Producing Director to discuss timelines and space needs
Experience in production management, venue management, and/or technical theater required. Having a car is helpful for this position, but not a job requirement. Looking for candidates who are proactive, organized, and flexible and who want to work in a fast-paced theater environment.
