Underscore Theatre Company is looking to grow our staff and empower musical-lovers to become a vital part of the new musical theatre community in Chicago. We are thrilled to announce the open role of Executive Director as a part-time stipended staff position.

Executive Director responsibilities include:

-Oversight of operations, administration, and human resources

-Planning and managing annual budget process with the Financial Director and Board

-Ownership of annual fundraising and grant submission efforts through management of Grant Writer

-Recruiting and managing operational staff

-Managing and directing day-to-day company operations

-Leading strategic planning process in concert with the Board

-With the Artistic Director, lead the company in its efforts to diversify and to promote racial equity in all aspects of the company’s work

-Creation and oversight of all contracts, agreements, and negotiations for staff and facilities, in conjunction with the Artistic Director

-Managing paperwork for federal and state agencies

-Submitting annual federal and state tax forms

-Regularly reviewing and assessing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) goals

-Setting stipends and salaries for operational staff within budgetary limits approved by the Board

-Chairing weekly staff meetings

-Acting as responsible agent in the implementation of the Chicago Code of Conduct and Equal Employment Opportunity Policy
