Position Summary
Writers Theatre seeks a Crew Cover for our upcoming production of Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812. The Crew Cover is an integral part of the backstage team. The Crew Cover assists the Stage Managers in any reasonable tasks necessary for the successful execution of the production. These tasks may include but are not limited to maintaining a clean and orderly backstage and stage area, and overseeing the handling of props and scenic materials. This position starts during previews and will cover four tracks – two deck tracks and two wardrobe. The Crew Cover will be provided adequate training time to feel comfortable running each track. Shows run Wednesday – Sunday, with Mondays and Tuesdays off.

Important Dates
Start of contract: Wednesday, September 11th
Opening: Friday, September 13th
Closing: Sunday, October 27th

Responsibilities
Train to run four crew tracks (two deck and two wardrobe). Run each track a minimum of once per week.
As Deck Crew Cover:
·      Assist in scenic moves with other deck crew and Assistant Stage Manager.
·      Address minor prop and scenic notes on props when necessary.
·      Maintain a clean and orderly backstage area.
·      Making sure all laundry is dry and ironed, steamed, and put away and the show is ready to go 1hr prior to curtain.
As Wardrobe Crew Cover:
·      Make sure all laundry is dry and ironed, steamed, and put away and the show is ready to go 1hr prior to curtain.
·      Assist actors at half hour with any hair, makeup, or dressing needs.
·      Stay actively present in the Wardrobe Room in case an actor needs something.

Qualifications & Key Competencies
Compassionate and tactful communicator
·      Ability to perform scene shifts and costume changes which may include the ability to climb, squat, kneel, and reach
·      Experience with following run paperwork for deck and wardrobe positions
·      Comfortability working closely with actors and establishing boundaries
Must be able to comply with organizational COVID safety policies and procedures
